Clare Lotto Plus player claims €1 million from Lisdoonvarna ticket
A County Clare Lotto Plus player has collected a €1 million prize from the September 5, 2026 Guaranteed Millionaire event, the Irish National Lottery announced on September 28.
The winning ticket was bought at Spar Lisdoonvarna on the day of the draw. The announcement updates the ticket's status from a confirmed win to a collected prize, more than three weeks after the event.
The ticket came from Spar Lisdoonvarna
The purchase coincided with the opening weekend of the town's Matchmaking Festival. The player subsequently carried the ticket around without knowing its value, according to their account reported by The Clare Herald.
After checking it, the winner shared the news with family and loved ones. The report did not identify the player by name.
At National Lottery headquarters, the winner said they wanted time to take in the result before making major changes. A holiday and plans for a home were among the possibilities they described.
How the extra €1 million was awarded
This win came through the special Guaranteed Millionaire event held alongside the September 5 Lotto Plus draws.
As The Clare Echo reported when the ticket was announced, tickets that won a prize in either Lotto Plus One or Lotto Plus Two entered a separate selection for an additional €1 million. The Spar Lisdoonvarna ticket was selected for that award, on top of its original prize.
The event also distributed 43 additional prizes of €10,092 to Lotto Plus players around Ireland. These awards were part of the special event accompanying the first draw under the revised Lotto format.
That distinction matters when identifying the winning ticket: the €1 million reported here was the additional Guaranteed Millionaire award. The September 28 claim announcement does not establish that the player matched the six numbers needed for the main Lotto jackpot.
Another Clare prize was collected
The Clare Herald also reported a separate €42,031 claim from the September 9 Lotto draw. That ticket matched five numbers and the bonus and was bought at Clancy's Centra on Lahinch Road in Ennis.
The two claims involved different tickets, retailers and prize categories. The Lisdoonvarna player's €1 million claim is complete.
