Had they decided to play the Megaplier, they would have doubled their winnings to $2 million. Apart from that, there were also six other players who managed to hit the Match 4 and the Mega Ball.
This allowed them to win a prize of $10,000 each. But, three of these winner also opted for the Megaplier, which meant that their winnings had increased to $20,000 each.
The other prizes for the Mega Millions draw were between $2 and $1,000. This latest jackpot comes after one player claimed a second-tier winning ticket in Texas that was worth $3 million.
The player had bought the ticket for the Mega Millions drawing on August 30th in Fort Worth at Terry’s Food.
Lottery winners can decide whether they want to claim a lump sum payment, or they want to go for an annuity.
Should they decide for the latter option, they are given an immediate payment, which is then followed by 20 annual payments that increase by 5% every year.
