How to play Lotto Max

A current Lotto Max play contains four selections of seven numbers from 1 to 52. Players can choose numbers where the provincial lottery permits manual selection or use the official random number option.

Seven main numbers are drawn, along with a bonus number used in several lower prize categories. Matching all seven main numbers on one selection wins a share of the jackpot.

The April 2026 redesign increased the number field from 50 to 52 and changed the ticket from three selections to four. That means current odds and ticket prices should be based on the 2026 structure, not the previous version of the game.

MAXMILLIONS are separate C$1 million draws added when the main jackpot reaches the required level.

Ticket prices and add-ons

A Lotto Max play now costs C$6 and includes four seven number selections.

The higher price and fourth selection were introduced with the 14 April 2026 format change. Provincial lottery corporations can also sell local extras, such as regional add-on games, for an additional amount.

Those local extras are not part of the national Lotto Max jackpot calculation. The core C$6 purchase covers the four Lotto Max selections and the associated eligibility for MAXMILLIONS when those draws are offered.

The total shown at checkout can therefore be higher if the customer adds a provincial companion game.

Draw days and times

Lotto Max is drawn every Tuesday and Friday.

Ticket sales deadlines are set by the provincial or regional lottery corporation selling the entry. Canada covers several time zones, so there is no single local clock time that a player in every province should use.

The official platform in the player's jurisdiction shows the cutoff for the upcoming Tuesday or Friday draw. Entries accepted after the deadline are placed into a later contest.

MAXMILLIONS numbers, when applicable, are drawn as part of the Lotto Max event and are published alongside the main result.

Prizes and odds

Under the current 7-from-52 format, the jackpot odds for one seven number selection are 1 in 33,446,140.

A C$6 ticket contains four selections, and the overall chance of winning any Lotto Max prize is about 1 in 5.8 under the current format.

Lower categories reward partial matches, including combinations involving the bonus number. The exact prize for shared categories depends on the pool and the number of winners.

The 2026 format also includes guaranteed C$100,000 prizes as part of the revised prize structure, with additional such prizes available as the jackpot grows according to the official rules.

MAXMILLIONS are separate C$1 million prizes, each decided by its own seven number draw.

Jackpots, rollovers and records

The Lotto Max jackpot starts at C$10 million and can rise to a maximum of C$90 million.

When the jackpot reaches C$50 million, MAXMILLIONS are added. Each MAXMILLIONS prize is worth C$1 million and is drawn separately. More MAXMILLIONS can be added as the jackpot grows.

The C$90 million cap was introduced with the April 2026 game change, replacing the lower maximum used under the previous format.

If multiple selections match the seven main jackpot numbers, the jackpot is shared. MAXMILLIONS prizes can also be shared when more than one ticket matches the same separate MAXMILLIONS combination.

How to play Lotto Max online

Official online Lotto Max entry is available through participating provincial lottery platforms where permitted.

Examples include OLG in Ontario, Loto-Québec in Quebec, PlayNow in British Columbia and participating western jurisdictions, and Atlantic Lottery in Atlantic Canada. Each operator applies its own account, age, identity and location requirements.

There is no single consumer Lotto Max account for all of Canada. The issuing regional lottery remains responsible for the ticket and prize claim.

Third party messenger or betting services are separate from these official Canadian channels and can use different payout arrangements.

Claiming prizes

Lotto Max prizes are claimed through the provincial or regional lottery corporation that sold the ticket.

Deadlines, retailer payment limits and major prize procedures vary by jurisdiction. Many Canadian draw game claims allow substantial time, but a winner should use the exact deadline stated by the issuing lottery rather than relying on another province's rules.

For official online entries, qualifying prizes are connected to the player's account. Large wins require direct processing and identity checks.

Canadian lottery prizes are generally received without Canadian income tax on the prize itself. Investment income earned afterward can be taxable, and non-residents can face different obligations in their country of residence.
