Florida raises Jackpot Triple Play ceiling to $3 million

Last updated

Florida’s Jackpot Triple Play now has a US$500,000 starting jackpot and a higher US$3 million ceiling, while its base ticket price remains US$1.

The Florida Lottery’s game page displays the new starting amount. WFTV’s September 22 report confirms that the maximum rolling jackpot increased from US$2 million to US$3 million, with the format and overall odds unchanged.

A higher ceiling does not mean every draw offers $3 million

The starting amount and the cap describe different points in the jackpot’s progression. US$500,000 is the starting level; US$3 million is the higher limit. The cap is not a promise that the next drawing will carry a US$3 million prize.

The ceiling has risen by US$1 million, or 50 percent. The new starting amount is twice the previous US$250,000 level described in the update.

The $1 base play still contains three sets

A base play includes three six number sets. Players choose six numbers from 1 to 46, or use Quick Pick, and receive two additional Quick Pick sets. Matching all six numbers on a single line wins the jackpot.

The optional Combo feature still costs another US$1. It combines matches across the three sets for a separate chance at a prize of up to US$10,000. It is an add-on, so a ticket with Combo costs more than the US$1 base play.

Some online information still reflects the old cap

The official game page currently displays the US$500,000 start while retaining an older sentence referring to jackpots up to US$2 million. The dated September report establishes the announced increase to US$3 million; readers comparing pages should be aware of that mismatch.

For a particular drawing, check the amount advertised for that date. The news is a change to the jackpot limits, not a change to the probability of matching the winning numbers.
