A group of 12 electricians had been playing the lottery together for a period of eight months before they landed a win in a Lotto 6/49 draw that was conducted in December, 2022.

The dozen electricians all hail from the Toronto area and were able to win a prize in the Lotto 6/49 draw that took place on December 17th, 2022.

The winners

On Monday, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), said in a release that the winners had managed to match all seven Encore numbers in the order they were drawn in.

This allowed them to win a prize of $1,000,020. The winners included two from Toronto, namely Michael Louie and Gregory Stauch, while the rest were also from the area.

These included Thomas Prce from Mississauga, Ryan Kanhai from Whitby, Nuno Costa and Tomasz Polanowski from Etobicoke, Michael Gavros from Richmond Hill, Damien Miller from Oshawa, Michael Rossi, Daniel Markovic, John Veshovski and Giovanni Serrao from Everett, Brampton and Woodbridge, respectively.

The winning ticket had been bought in Etobicoke from Petro Canada located on Burnhamthorpe Road.

The reaction

Gavros disclosed that he had almost decided to not answer his colleague’s call because it was a Sunday. He said that he was curious to know why his coworker was calling on a Sunday.

He was excited to learn about the win. Tomasz revealed that he had checked their ticket on the OLG App and had gotten excited when he realized they had won $1 million. He added that he had been unable to believe it.

As far as plans are concerned, some of the group members are planning to save their winnings, others want to pay off bills, or invest somewhere.

There are also those who want to use their prize money to travel, or do home renovations. Kanhai said that he wanted to go for a vacation to a warm place.

Other wins

Meanwhile, the Lotto 6/49 draw on February 18th saw a man from New Brunswick land a prize of $1 million.

Clarence Gallant had had a difficult time believing that he had won a prize. Diane, his partner, was the one who checked the tickets.

Gallant said that she had screamed after checking the ticket on Sunday afternoon and he had told her not to do that because his heart could not deal with it.

She checked the ticket twice and then asked her son to do so as well, after which they finally started believing that they had won.

The winning ticket had been purchased in Shediac, New Brunswick from a Circle K.
