A lucky lottery player from the small county of Louth became the 28th National Lottery millionaire of this year.
The punter from Co Louth became a millionaire overnight after participating in the Lotto Plus 1 draw of the Irish Lotto on Saturday night, which helped them scoop a prize of €1 million.
Jackpot rolls over
The winning numbers for the draw on Saturday, September 17th were 06, 10, 14, 21, 26 and 37, while 27 was the bonus number.
However, there were no winners for the jackpot in the lottery draw, which was worth a whopping €6.7 million. But, there were 102,000 lucky players who were able to win different prizes on the night.
Since there were no grand prize winners, it means that the Irish Lotto jackpot for Wednesday will now roll to reach a massive €7 million.
Nonetheless, the weekend resulted in big wins for lottery players in Ireland because there was another player who won a massive prize in the EuroMillions lottery draw on Friday.
One lucky winner who participated in the EuroMillions Plus draw was able to snatch a prize of €500,000. The Irish punter was able to match all five digits in the draw on September 16th, which saw them win a life-changing sum.
The winning ticket was sold in Loughboy, Kilkenny on August 25th at the SuperValu store in Caulfield.
The winning numbers for the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday night were 11, 13, 18, 21 and 26.
After the two big wins, the National Lottery urged players to check their ticket and sign them.
Before this win, the most recent millionaire of 2022 had landed a prize of €1,005,000 on August 26th in the EuroMillions Raffle.
This made the lucky punter the second one from Kildare to become a millionaire. As far as the biggest win of the year is concerned, it occurred back in February.
This was when a Lotto player was able to win the big prize worth €30 million. This prize went to a punter in Clare, making them the 8th Irish millionaire of the year.
Plus, it also made them the 17th jackpot winner of the EuroMillions lottery hailing from Ireland. The winning ticket was sold in Co Clare in Larkin’s Gala Service Station, which was worth €30,928,078.
