Mega Millions Jackpot Surpasses $1 Billion

On Saturday morning, the winner of the Mega Millions lottery could be richer by $1.05 billion because the jackpot for the draw has grown.

The Mega Millions lottery draw on Tuesday, 26th July had no jackpot winner, as there were no players who matched all the six numbers. However, there were other prizes given out.

Eight ticket-holders managed to claim a prize of $1 million each on Tuesday, after they were able to match five numbers.

A ninth ticket-holder was able to claim a prize of $3 million, as the player from Ohio opted for the 3x multiplier.

But, the jackpot had remained untouched. Pat McDonald, the Ohio Lottery Director and the Mega Millions Consortium’s Lead Director, said that they were looking at the growing jackpot in anticipation.

He said that watching the jackpot rollover for a few months until it reached the billion dollar mark was undoubtedly thrilling.

He encouraged people to continue playing and enjoy, as someone could win the massive prize.

No winner

There has not been a winner for the Mega Millions lottery jackpot in the last 29 drawings. The last time it was claimed was back on April 15th.

The jackpot for Friday’s Mega Millions draw is the third highest jackpot in the history of the Mega Millions lottery, just short of the $1.050 billion that was won last year in January in Michigan.

However, the record jackpot for the Mega Millions lottery is a whopping $1.537 billion that was claimed in 2018 in South Carolina on October 23rd.

According to the Mega Millions’ official website, it is the biggest lottery payout to be given to a single ticket-holder.

The next draw of the Mega Millions lottery in on Friday, July 29th and gives players the chance to win a massive prize.
